Fraser’s Fish & Chips Proudly Sponsors the Cornish Pirates

Local food. Local rugby. One very proud Cornish partnership.

There are some things that just feel properly Cornish. The sea. A good pasty. Fish and chips by the coast. And, of course, getting behind your local rugby team.

That’s why we’re incredibly proud to announce that Fraser’s Fish & Chips is sponsoring the Cornish Pirates for the new season.

For us, though, this partnership is about much more than seeing the Fraser’s name around the Mennaye Field. It’s about supporting something that matters to our town, our customers and our community.

Proud to be local

Fraser’s has always been a local, family-run business at heart. Penzance is our home, and we’re lucky to serve a community that has supported us since we first opened our doors here in 2016.

We believe being a local business means playing your part in the place you call home. That means supporting local suppliers wherever we can, getting behind community events and organisations, creating local jobs and, occasionally, finding a very good excuse to spend a Friday night watching rugby.

So when the opportunity came along to support the Cornish Pirates, it felt like a natural fit.

More than just rugby.

The Cornish Pirates don’t just represent Penzance on the pitch. They carry the name Cornwall with them wherever they play.

Cornwall has always had a strong identity of its own – shaped by our coastline, communities, heritage and the people who are fiercely proud to call this place home.

We think the Pirates capture plenty of that spirit.

They’re ambitious, determined and proudly Cornish, while remaining deeply connected to the community that supports them. And whether you’re a lifelong rugby supporter or have never quite worked out what happens in a scrum, there’s something pretty special about seeing a team take to the pitch with Cornish Pirates across their badge.

That’s something we’re very happy to get behind.

Meet our Pirate

As part of our partnership, Fraser’s is also delighted to be sponsoring Joe Elderkin for the season.

And Joe isn’t just getting his name attached to a sponsorship board and being left in peace.

Sorry, Joe.

We’re planning to put our sponsored Pirate to work.

Throughout the season, expect to see Joe swapping the rugby pitch for the chippy as we put him through a series of Fraser’s challenges – from wrapping fish and chips to blind taste tests, fishy quizzes and possibly a shift behind the counter if we’re feeling particularly brave.

After all, we take the fish deadly seriously, so nobody has to take us seriously.

Bringing match day to Fraser's

We want this partnership to be something Pirates supporters can actually get involved with too.

Throughout the season we’ll be celebrating home matches with competitions, giveaways, match-day content and a few surprises along the way.

Keep an eye on our social channels for more.

Supporting Cornwall, together.

Ultimately, this partnership is about something very simple.

We’re proud to be a Cornish business. We’re proud to be part of Penzance. And we’re proud to support a team that takes the name of Cornwall out onto the pitch every week.

Local businesses and local organisations are stronger when they support one another, and we hope our partnership with the Cornish Pirates gives us even more opportunities to celebrate our community, have some fun and make a few people smile along the way.

So here’s to a brilliant season ahead.

Great fish. Great rugby. One very proud Cornish partnership.

Come on you Pirates! 🏴‍☠️🏉🐟
